Halloween Mishap
“Are you coming to the Halloween party tonight?”
I snorted in disgust. As a high school graduate about to go to college, I considered Halloween a childish event that was beneath me. Nevertheless, I turned around to see who had called after me.
Damn, why did it have to be Fred? He was the typical nerd and, as far as I knew, had never had a girlfriend. Nevertheless, or perhaps exactly because of that, I thought he was incredibly cute.
I bit my lower lip and struggled with myself. I didn't really feel like accepting the invitation. On the other hand, it might be the last chance to meet Fred in a relaxed atmosphere before we went our separate ways at the end of school. I strongly suspected that there would be alcohol at this party. And who knows where that could lead?
“Are you going too?” I asked as innocently as possible.
“Yeah, sure. Our whole class is going. It'll be fun.”
“Okay, I'll think about it. Where is it?” I tried to sound casual so as not to give myself away. To be honest, I was really into him.
“The old abandoned house at the end of the street. The one that's supposedly haunted.”
Of course, where else?
I hurried home and thought about what to wear along the way. I ed a costume I had worn years ago. Back then, I had dressed up as Velma from the Scooby-Doo gang. I actually found it at the back of my closet. A loose orange turtleneck sweater, a short red pleated skirt, knee-high socks, Mary Jane shoes, and black square glasses.
Unfortunately, I had grown quite a bit since then, so the clothes didn't fit perfectly anymore. The sweater and especially the skirt seemed a bit short.
Dressed like this, I entered the supposed party location.
