The mother could be the main character, or some other member of the family could deal with the results of their matriarch's situation. Changes can even spread to other of the family, though the mother will always be either the center or the catalyst of such changes. A writer could come up with a specific reason for the transformation, or it could be entirely random. As long as it fits within the rules of the website, basically anything goes.
